Avalanche on Broad Peak: Nirmal Purja and International Climbing Team Missing in Pakistan
The global mountaineering community has been shaken by tragic news from Pakistan's Karakoram Range, where an avalanche on Broad Peak (8,047m) has left renowned Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal "Nims" Purja and nine members of his international expedition team missing.
The avalanche reportedly struck the upper slopes of Broad Peak during a summit push. Since the incident, there has been no confirmed communication with the team. Pakistani authorities, the Alpine Club of Pakistan, and the Government of Nepal are coordinating search and rescue efforts despite extremely difficult weather conditions and the challenging high-altitude environment.
