Nepal is a small country of area 147, 181 sq km with the low lying kanchan kalan (63m) to highest point of the Earth Mt Everest (8848m). Nepal is a home to 125 diverse ethnic groups who have their own different tradition, culture, lifestyles. There are 13000 mountains above 6000m height. Out of them 122 are opened for expedition. Eight of the fourteen eight thou sanders of the world lie in Nepal. Sagarmatha 8848m, Kanchenjunga 8586 m, Lhotse 8516 m, Makulu 8463 m, Choyu 8201 m, Dhaulagiri 8167 m, Manaslu 8163 m and Annapurna I 8091 m. The so called cold dessert of Nepal Mustang and Dolpo are famous for trekking. Seasons in Nepal are divided into spring, early summer, summer monsoon, early autumn, Late Autumn and winter. Nepal can be visited the whole year round. The world heritage sites of Nepal are Chitwan National park, Sagarmatha National park, Lumbini, Changu Narayan, Kathmandu Durbar square, Patan Durbar square, Bhaktapur Durbar square, Swoyambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath. There are 16 protected areas covering 9 national park, 3 wildlife reserves, 3 conservation areas and 1 hunting reserve. Nepal is rich in biodiversity and posses 2. 80% flowering plants, 3. 96% mammals, 3. 72 % of butterflies, 8. 90% birds. Nepal is known as the second largest country after Brazil for water resources potential. There are 6000 river in Nepal which is snow fed or dependant on rain. Few rafting rivers in the world can match the thundering course of the rivers of Nepal.
