Trip Overview of Tibet Trekking and Walking
Tibet trekking and walking is another travel that happens to be an autonomous province of the neighboring nation China. Tibet is popular in the world amongst travelers and tourists for its natural beauty and also for the several historical monasteries present in the autonomous state. Many international tourists visit Tibet for traveling and trekking purposes every year and its popularity has been on the rise year after year. This is one of the reasons why trekking and walking in Tibet is quickly developing into a major tourist activity among international tourists. Tibet is also known for its religious significance as it is a holy destination for the Buddhist people. Tibet is the home of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. The palace of Potala more commonly known as Potala Palace is one of the iconic destinations for all the travelers who visit the state for multiple purposes. The rich architecture and the location of Potala have been quite famous amongst the tourists.
During the course of this trip, you can comfortably enjoy the major natural and cultural attractions of Tibet in a short span of time. Tibet trekking and walking start from the Capital city of Kathmandu when you take a flight to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. Over the course of the next few days, you will be traveling and walking around the city of Tibet and enjoying the mild adventure on offer in the iconic city. You will reach all the major places in Tibet during the course of Tibet trekking and walking.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
30 Min Only Breakfast Guest House
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by our representatives at the Airport and then be transferred to the hotel safely. After reaching the hotel, you will be briefed in short about the travel itinerary. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu

On the second day of your itinerary, you will be busy sightseeing around different places of Kathmandu like Swyambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and three different Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, among other sites. Most of the places you visit on the second day are enlisted in UNESCO’s list of world heritages that carry historical and religious significance. Overnight stay at a guesthouse.
Day 03: Drive to Zhangmu (2,500 m) and Nyalam (3,700 m)
8-9 hrs B/L/D Hotel
On the 3rd day of the Tibet trekking and walking tour, you will leave Kathmandu early in the morning and drive to Kodari, the Nepal-China border situated nearby from the Capital. Then you will head to Zhangmu and proceed further after clearing customs at the Chinese Immigration center. Then you will continue the journey through a beautiful gorge to Nyalam after crossing the Himalayan Range.
Day 04: Drive to Xegar (4,050 m)
4-5 hrs B/L/D Hotel
On the fourth day, you will ascend to the highest plateau across Lalung La (5,050 m) from where you can enjoy the breathtaking panorama of the beautiful Himalayan Mountains Cho Oyu (8,201 m) and Mt. Xishapagma (8012 m). Later you will move forward to Xegar where you will stay overnight.
Day 05: Travel to Shigatse (3,900 m)
5-6 hrs B/L/D Hotel
You will then follow the trail up to the High Pass Gyatchu La (5,220 m) which is the highest pass in the region while moving on to Lhasa via Lhatse. After crossing the high pass, you will reach the site where Mount Kailash separates to the west. A little further lies Shigatse where you will be staying overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Move to Gyantse (3950m)
5-6 hrs B/L/D Hotel
Early in the morning on the sixth day, you will visit the Tashilumpo monastery and return back to Shigatse. After having lunch in the afternoon, you will set yourself on a pleasant drive of 2 hours to arrive at Gyantse. You will stay overnight in a hotel at Gyantse.
Day 07: Visit Lhasa (3650m)
5-6 hrs B/L/D Hotel
A day-long drive from Gyantse through High Passes Karo-La (5010m) and Kamba La pass (4794m) will take you to Lhasa, the Tibetan capital.0 On the way, you will have a view of Lake Yamdrok Tso (Turquoise Lake) and you will cross the Brahma Putra River (Yarlung Tsangpo) from where you can see the distant views of the Potala Palace. You will stay overnight in a hotel in Lhasa.
Day 08: Lhasa Tour
5-6 hrs B/L/D Hotel
On this day, you will explore the major important and historical sites in the Tibetan capital. You will visit Shera Monastery, Norbulinga Palace- also known as the summer house of Dalai Lama, and Jokhang Temple- a spiritual center for Tibetan Village. You will then follow the pilgrimage circuit around the ancient streets of the old city near the Barkhor market and return to the hotel.
Day 09: Another day of sightseeing in Lhasa
5-6 hrs B/L/D Hotel
Early in the morning on the ninth day, you will explore the iconic Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. The 17th-century Potala Palace offers a magnificent view across the city and also has private rooms for the Dalai Lama, many large staterooms, and chapels. Later, you will visit Drepung -one of the largest monasteries in Tibet. After finishing Lhasa sightseeing, you will return back to the Hotel.
Day 10: Final departure from Lhasa

Early in the morning, you will drive from the hotel to the Airport which takes about 2 hrs to reach the Airport. You will then take a flight either back to Kathmandu or to your next destination.
